19th Amendment Passed – June 4th, 1919

In 1919, Congress would pass the 19th Amendment. This prohibited restricting voting based on sex. This amendment extended the right to vote to women. Unfortunately, due to Jim Crow laws, most black women wouldn’t be able to exercise their right to vote until 1965.
